Home Renovation At 96c Upland Road
We were asked by Robert Donald from Donald design if we could offer our professional services on a house renovation that he had designed. The brief for his client included a design that required a very high-quality finish.
We met with the owner of the property to go over the project specifications and determine any other requirements he may have.
The project consisted of several structural changes including the removal of some internal walls in the living areas and new wall linings.
A new kitchen, new bathrooms, new wardrobes, storage areas and laundry were also to be installed. In short, the building required a full remodel.
The property also required a high-quality external finish, this was to be the final stage of the renovation project.
We prepared our estimate using the scope of work and plans provided by Donald Design and met with the client to finalise the financial details, and to discuss contingencies should the project come across any currently unknown elements.
The client accepted our proposal and we agreed a date to begin the work.
During the demolition phase it became apparent that the original structure was substandard and there were a number of significant structural defects including issues with weather tightness. We sought the advice and expertise from engineers, architects, specialist waterproofers, joinery manufacturers, building inspectors and council representatives to find the most effective solution to the problems we had discovered. We informed our client of our suggested remedies and worked with him to make sure he had all the information required to make an informed decision.
